This year Chennai based Numeric Power Systems Ltd. bagged the top
honors bagging the most prestigious SD's No l. Power Electronic Company of
the year the largest manufacturer of Online UPS Systems in India and the
largest manufacturer of Offline/Inline manufacturer of the year award. All
the three firsts related to UPS, went to Numeric. The company netted the
total revenues of 337.67 crores, up from 286.87 crores over the previous
years turnover. Hence registering a growth of nearly 18% in revenue term,
this is good going but not phenomenal as Numeric has been doing in the
past. The reason for this is that the 3 Phase UPS Systems which were
earlier sold under the Numeric banner are now sold under a separate entity
SOCOMEC NUMERIC UPS PVT. LTD., this being the case what Numeric has
achieved this year sets the warning bell ringing for the competing
company.

STRENGHT : Growth that would
have been achieved on a fixed scale of 500 crores. If a company
grows from 2 crores to 4 crores, growth is 100%. While a company
growing from 100 to 110 crores shows a growth of only 10%. This
anomaly is addressed by Strength. Strength is comparative growth of
various companies on a fixed scale. Also considered is the market
presence, after sales support, end-user education and system
up-time. |
SD realizes that Schneider is playing its own game
behind the scenes, MGE first snapped ties was Numeric and then went on to
acquire APC. Giving birth to APC MGE INDIA, However this merger did not go
full length as MGE OPS (Office Protection System) MGE’s arm selling
Single phase UPS Systems was not merged. In a more recent development
Eaton has taken over MGE OPS. This enables Eaton to have more products in
its basket.
APC, Emerson and Eaton’s who
didn’t disclose turnover figures terming it to be their company policy.
For UPSs sales of these companies, SD estimates APC’s UPS sales to be
around 430 crores, while Emerson is some where around 370 crores. Another
leading company Eaton’s Power Quality is estimated around 130 crores.
These figure are just SD’s estimates through our own market sources and
information coming out of Government agencies. Here it is worth mentioning
that Govt.’s Right to Information policy has come good to evaluate the
unknown to a certain extent.
Pune based DB Power Electronics Pvt. Ltd. has emerged
as SD’s No. 2 Power Electronic Company in the country. They were also
the SD’s No.2 Online UPS Manufacturer in the country. The company netted
revenues to the tune of 178 crores up from 110 crores it netted in year
2005-06. A handsome growth of nearly 62%.
Consul have consolidated their position steadily. They
made their strong presence felt by clinching the SD’s No. 3 Power
Electronic Company of the year award. The company netted revenues to the
tune of 74.50 crores up from 45.00 crores it had netted in 2005-2006. A
staggering growth of over 65%. An improvement of one rank over the
previous year. Out of the total revenue of 74.50 crores 53.00 crores came
thru sales of Online UPS systems making it the SD’s No. 4 Online UPS
manufacturer in the country.
Thane based Aplab Ltd. slipped one rank clinching the
coveted SD’s No.4 Power Electronic Equipment manufacturer in the
country. The company netted revenues of Rs. 67.40 crores, up from 47.10
crores it registered in 2005-2006. Such is competition that even a high
growth of over 43% could not help it, keep its position intact. Of the
total revenues of 67.40 crores, 64.00 crores
accounted for the sale of online UPS systems. This made them the SD’s
3rd largest Online UPS manufacturer in the country.
Another strong performer in the last few years have
been the Delhi based Uniline Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd. This year Uniline
netted revenues to the tune of 66.59 crores making it the top in the SD’s
top 5 Club. A growth of nearly 68%. Which helped it retain its No. 5 slot
in SD’s overall ranking chart.

of UPS systems from Taiwan. The company with its aggressive marketing
strategy was able to achieve a turnover of 59.00 crores, making it the SD’s
6th largest Power Electronic Company in the Country. A jump of 2 ranks
over its previous years performance. Out of the total revenue of 59 crores,
36 crores of revenue was generated by sellin 3 lakh pieces of Offline UPS
System making it the SD’s No. 2 Offline UPS Company of the year.
Two companies Delta Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd. Gurgaon
and Hi-Rel Electronics Pvt. Ltd. Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat were tied in 7th
spot with revenue of 51 crores, all of which was a result of sale of
online UPS systems. They were jointly declared SD’s No. 5 Online UPS
Company of year 2007.
Another Delhi based company Tritronics (India) Pvt.
Ltd. put up an impressive performance with a turn over of 41.86 crores
there by getting itself to the eight spot in the SD’s top 10 Power
Electronic Company overall rankings chart.
Steady growth and consistent performance has been the
hall mark of Bangalore based Power-One Micro systems Pvt. Ltd. the company
clinched the 9th spot in the SD’s top 10 club. They were adjudged the SD’s
No. 9 Power Electronic Company in the Country. With increasing presence in
the North, no wonders, if company ends up higher up in the top 10 rankings
chart in the coming year. The company netted total revenues of 35.54
crores, a growth of over 20% over the previous years turn over.
Clinching the last spot in the SD’s Top 10 Club was
another south based company Techser Power Solutions Pvt. Ltd. being
adjudged the SD’s No. 10 Power Company of the year. Though the company’s
turnover of nearly 26.88 crores was lesser then that of WeP which had a
turnover of 32.70 crorers, it was its Online nature with near 100%
customer satisfaction record which made it possible for the company to
make it to the top 10 club.
Conclusion: The progressive trends were clearly
visible among the top 10 companies, with margin squeezed as volume wise
there is increase in sales of almost all the companies. In all 710
companies were reached, here it worth mentioning that nearly 250
manufacturer have either closed or switched their line of business owing
to severe price pressure. It’s a volume game with small margins, only
the bigger and better will survive.
These rankings are limited to the companies responding
to our survey and data provided by them.
