STRENGHT : Growth
that would have been achieved on a fixed scale of 500 crores. If a
company grows from 2 crores to 4 crores, growth is 100%. While a
company growing from 100 to 110 crores shows a growth of only 10%.
This anomaly is addressed by Strength. Strength is comparative
growth of various companies on a fixed scale. Also considered is the
market presence, after sales support, end-user education and system
up-time. |
APC, Emerson and Eaton’s who didn’t disclose
turnover figures terming it to be their company policy. For UPSs sales of
these companies, SD estimates APC’s UPS sales to be around 580 crores,
while Emerson is some where around 488 crores. Another leading company
Eaton’s Power Quality is estimated around 164 crores. These figure are
just SD’s estimates through our own market sources and information
coming out of Government agencies. Here it is worth mentioning that Govt.’s
Right to Information policy has come good to evaluate the unknown to a
certain extent.
Pune based DB Power Electronics Pvt. Ltd. has emerged
as SD’s No. 2 Power Electronic Company in the country. They were also
the SD’s No.2 Online UPS Manufacturer in the country. The company netted
revenues to the tune of 235 crores up from 178 crores it netted in year
2006-07. A growth of nearly 32%, well above the industry average. DB are
also the SD’s No. 2 Online UPS Company in the Country.
There is a new entrant at 3rd Slot, PCI Limited which
has specialized in Rotary UPS systems and higher rating 3 Phase Static
UPSs netted revenues to the tune of 99.89 crores, making it the SD’s
No.3 UPS Power Electronic Company of the Year. PCI are also the SD’s No.
3 Online UPS Company in the country.
Consul have consolidated in revenue terms raking in
revenues to the tune of 89.90 crores, but slipped a rank. They were
adjudged the SD’s No. 4 Power Electronic Company of the year. Consuls
have grown from 74.50 Crores in 2006-2007 to 89.90 crores in 2007-2008, a
health growth of over 20%. Out of the total revenue of 89.90 crores 65.00
crores came thru sales of Online UPS systems making it the SD’s No. 5
Online UPS manufacturer in the country.
Fifth spot was shared between Aplab & Uniline.
Thane based Aplab Ltd. slipped one rank clinching the
coveted SD’s No.5 Power Electronic Company of the year. The company
netted revenues of Rs. 68.00 crores, up from 67.40 crores it registered in
2006-2007. All though there is not much growth, but company pick &
choose policy and not selling anything & everything at throw away
price has helped it attain better profits. All of its turnover was due to
Sales of Online UPS Systems making it the SD’s No. 4 Online UPS
Manufacturer in the country.
Another strong performer in the last few years have
been the Delhi based Uniline Energy Systems Pvt. Ltd. Which was tied with
Aplab Ltd. For fifth spot. Uniline too netted revenues to the tune of
68.00 crores making it in to the SD’s top 5 Club. A growth of over 18%.
Which helped it retain its No. 5 slot in SD’s overall ranking chart.
Uniline are also the SD’s No. 3 Line-interactive UPS Company of the
year.
Kolkata based HiTA Technology Pvt. Ltd. proved to the
dark horse in the competition, surging ahead of its more illustrious peers
with a staggering growth of over 99%, the company managed to net revenues
to the tune of 49.63 crores up from 24.85 crores in 2006-2007. HiTA were
crowned SD’s No. 6 Power Electronic Company of the year. No wonders,
HiTA are the fastest growing company in the SD’s Top 10 club.
Another Delhi based company Tritronics (India) Pvt.
Ltd. put up an impressive performance with a turn over of 48.54 crores
there by getting crowned as SD’s No. 7 Power Electronic Company of the
year. An improvement of one rank over the previous year.
Hi-Rel Electronics Pvt. Ltd. Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat had
to satisfy with the in 8th spot with revenue of 41.57 crores, all of which
was a result of sale of online UPS systems. Hi-REL were Adjuded SD’s No.
8 Power Electronic Company of the year. Re-positioning its product range
has made the company stronger and the drop in revenue is just momentary,
the company Steady growth & improved performance has been the hall
mark of Bangalore based Techser Power Solutions Pvt. Ltd. They were
crowned SD’s No. 9 Power Electronic Company of the year. With increasing
presence in the North, no wonders, if company ends up higher up in the top
10 rankings chart in the coming years. The company netted total revenues
of 40.78 crores, a growth of nearly 52% which is nearly twice the industry
average of 27%.
Clinching the last spot in the SD’s Top 10 Club was
another south based company Power-One Micro Systems Pvt. Ltd. being
adjudged the SD’s No. 10 Power Company of the year with a turnover of
36.57 crores.
Conclusion: The progressive trends were clearly
visible among the top 10 companies, with margin squeezed as volume wise
there is increase in sales of almost all the companies. In all 740
companies were reached, here it worth mentioning that many manufacturer
have switched their line of business owing to severe price pressure. It’s
a volume game with small margins, only the bigger and better will survive.
