SD USERS' SATISFCATION SURVEY AWARDS, 2025
SAMPLE SIZE OF 9,851 RESPONDENTS

The SD Users’ Satisfaction Survey 2025, representing the largest customer satisfaction study ever conducted in the history of Power Electronic Industry {(UPS, Solar Inverter’s, (Offgrid, Grid Sharing, Hybrid)}  is built on the strength of 9,851 responses drawn from across India. This unprecedented exercise captures the evolving expectations of end-users with a clarity that sets new benchmarks for the sector.

Findings reveal that customers today are uncompromising in balancing price and quality. Those awarding the highest ratings remain deeply quality-conscious while still demanding value for money, treating a UPS not as an accessory but as the very backbone of modern digital infrastructure. At the lower end of the spectrum, price sensitivity persists, yet the call for longer backup times has surged—driven by the enduring work-from-home culture. Meanwhile, in the premium space spanning Big Data, Robotics, and Defense, innovation, modularity, and scalability now dominate customer priorities.

Indian UPS manufacturers are responding with defense-grade modular systems, wholly “Made in India.” This transformation aligns directly with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, reinforced by the fact that 63% of the defense procurement budget is earmarked for domestic sourcing.

Customers, in turn, are placing decisive weight on product reliability, accessible maintenance, and service proximity, giving companies with strategically located service centers a decisive edge. This is reflected in the rising share of high-end UPS sales by Indian vendors, outpacing earlier years.

Within the SME segment, suppliers are expected not merely to respond but to anticipate customer needs, offering innovative, service-backed solutions. Corporations are increasingly willing to pay a premium for reliability rather than risk costly disruptions by compromising on quality.

Softdisk firmly maintains that while continuity of power and product durability remain vital, the true differentiator lies in customization the ability of manufacturers to align solutions precisely with customer requirements. This capacity will determine who leads in tomorrow’s competitive marketplace.

Energy efficiency has also emerged as a critical success factor. In a landscape where high value is already a given, the ability to engineer tangible energy savings will be the lever that opens doors to new opportunities, even amid fierce competition.

Space efficiency is another defining trend. With urban real estate at a premium, customers are increasingly prioritizing wattage per cubic inch and higher power factors. Indian manufacturers, once trailing their global peers, are now catching up rapidly with Chinese and Taiwanese counterparts. Even at the upper end of the spectrum, compact rack-mounted UPS systems with smaller footprints are being welcomed as smarter, space-optimized solutions.

For new entrants in the Indian market for power conditioners and transient voltage surge suppressors, the mandate is clear: there is no room for shortcuts. With Chinese imports once preferred for low cost now losing traction, established Indian players have consolidated strength by investing in indigenous R&D and technological advancement. Innovation and local expertise will remain the bedrock of competitiveness.

The 2025 survey underscores that dependence on trading tactics is no longer sustainable. While a few may manage fleeting success, most will falter. Softdisk has consistently emphasized the importance of educating end-users and enabling manufacturers to provide long-term, cost-effective solutions. This philosophy has earned us recognition as trusted Power Quality Consultants, dedicated to building lasting partnerships between vendors and customers.

The scale and rigor of this year’s survey are unmatched. A total of 230 companies participated, drawn from a wider base of 311 organizations and professionals, with 104 SD Ratings conferred. To achieve this scale, Softdisk dispatched more than 14,540 direct mailers, while the questionnaire—structured as an extensive poll—was hosted at www.sdawards.in and shared via targeted email outreach.

Beyond online engagement, the initiative reached into the field. Nearly 311 installation visits were undertaken across the country, and over 725 structured conversations with purchasing heads and corporate leaders were conducted through a dedicated call center. This multi-channel methodology ensures that the SD Users’ Satisfaction Survey Awards 2025 not only stands as the largest in the history of the UPS industry but also as its most authentic reflection of customer expectations.

This year, the survey findings were analyzed more rigorously by first categorizing Online and Line Interactive UPS manufacturers separately. UPS systems were further divided into Three Phase and Single Phase products, across various kVA categories, and assessed individually on key factors such as Quality, After-Sales Service, Pre-Sales End User Education, and Technology Advantage in relation to Cost Effectiveness criteria that Softdisk deems essential. Manufacturers must be able to identify the specific needs of end users and provide them with the necessary information to help them navigate the wide range of products available, ensuring they choose a quality solution at a competitive price.

In the online UPS category, the online parallel redundant dual conversion technology remains dominant. Additionally, for high-end mission-critical applications, Online UPS systems with regressive topology for regenerative loads are also popular. However, in some cases, solar energy solutions have started to gain acceptance.

Our magazine is the first to publish a comprehensive Solar Industry Survey for 2024-25, featuring SD's Top 3 Rooftop Solutions Providers, Top 3 SPCU Manufacturers, and separate categories for Off-Grid/Hybrid and Grid-Tie Solar Solutions Providers.

As usual, we have updated the SD Ratings by removing outdated companies and including new ones, establishing a benchmark for quality and price-worthiness. May this survey help end-user’s make informed decisions that will benefit their businesses in the long run.
